The Five Edit publishes practical guides on style and beauty. We write about how to build a wardrobe that works, how to choose colours and fabrics that suit you, how to read skin type and beauty labels, and how to dress for occasions such as weddings without overspending.

What we publish

Each guide is built around a question people actually ask. Pillar guides cover the big decisions, such as a capsule wardrobe, personal style, cost per wear and skin type. Shorter pieces answer narrower questions, such as how to shop a sale or what a fit-and-flare dress does for a silhouette.

Many guides include a free tool that runs in your browser: a capsule check, a style quiz, a cost-per-wear calculator, a skin type check, an undertone test, a wedding guest selector, a thrift checklist and a heel comfort band. The tools do not send what you enter to any server.

How we work

The editorial team plans each guide from the question, checks the advice against reliable general sources and writes it in plain language. We state clearly when something is a rule of thumb rather than a fact, and we send readers to a doctor or dermatologist for medical questions.

We do not sell products on this site and do not publish sponsored rankings. If that changes, the change will be stated on the page concerned.
